The Innkeeper, Linda Gill Hayes, welcomes you to Coquina Wharf where her guests are treated like friends come to stay. She is a third generation Florida native born in the nearby town of Deland. Linda has furnished Coquina Wharf with antiques and family heirlooms, including several rugs designed and hooked by her grandmother. She is trained in floral design and can prepare special baskets of goodies for any event celebrated during yourPhoto of the Main House of Coquina Wharf B&B stay.

History

Built in 1903 with a Colonial Dutch flair, Coquina Wharf Bed & Breakfast welcomes you with Southern hospitality in a historic setting. It is located on the Intracoastal Waterway at the site of the Old Stone Wharf. The wharf was built in the 1700's and marked the end of the King's Road. This site was the scene of a Civil War engagement in 1862.

Guest Areas

As you enter the main house, past the traditional white rocking chairs and beautiful flowers on the porch, you are welcomed by an inviting living room which is unusual in its L-shape curving around the original fireplace. The 17-foot sofa artfully frames an intimate seating area, ideal for cozy chats and refreshments. Heart-ofpine floors and ten-foot ceilings add to the grandeur of the house while the family antiques and comfortable furnishings make you feel right at home.Photo of the Coquina Wharf B&B sun porch

The sun room, off the living room, faces out to the waterway with beautiful views. Numerous plants and the lace curtains give a sunny, airy effect and invite you to cozy up with a book, a cold drink and maybe the house cat, Sable. There is a stereo with a large CD collection for the use of guests during their stay.

Grounds

The well-kept grounds are filled with flowers and inviting seating nooks in the shade for relaxing or conversation. Many local artists paint Coquina's porch with comfortable rocking chairs and many flowering plants as well as the spectacular view.

The grounds feature a 128 foot dock for fishing or crabbing. Grouper as large as 35 pounds have been caught from the fishing hole in front of Coquina Wharf. Guests with boats may dock at Photo of breakfast at Coquina Wharf B&Bno charge; we have 3-4 feet of water at low tide. The grounds on the water's edge are perfect for sunning. Dolphins put on a daily show and the manatees often come bobbing along by the dock.

Breakfast

Breakfast is served in the sun room daily by the innkeeper. Homemade from family recipes, you will start the day full and happy! Breakfast includes Florida orange juice, your choice of coffee or tea, fresh fruit and a hot entrée.
